Pathology Services
Diagnosing complex skin disorders requires highly specialized skills. In some cases, reaching an accurate diagnosis means that a tissue sample, or biopsy, must be sent to a specialist called a pathologist -- a highly trained physician who specializes in diagnosing disease or disorders by examining cells under a microscope.
A pathologist who focuses on dermatology disorders is called a dermatopathologist. While many dermatology practices have to send biopsies to an outside lab for testing, at DermOne, we offer an in-house pathology lab staffed by expert dermatopathologists. The benefit for patients is that results are typically available faster, within 48 hours for most routine tests. Patients also have the added reassurance of knowing that highly qualified specialists are examining the samples.
